TruHue finds dupes by comparing the actual hex color values of 53,000+ products using CIEDE2000, a scientific color-distance formula that measures how similar two colors look to the human eye.

TruHue uses CIEDE2000 color distance, the industry standard for perceptual color matching. Every product in the database has a hex color value extracted from the product page. When you search, TruHue compares that hex to every other product and returns the closest matches, ranked by similarity percentage.

Dupes marked "Exact Match" have a CIEDE2000 distance under 1, meaning they are visually indistinguishable to most people.
