You're 2 minutes away from never guessing again.
You know that feeling when you try on a top and look instantly better? Or when a lipstick makes you look weirdly tired? That's your coloring talking. Some colors harmonize with your skin, hair, and eyes — others fight them.
Figuring out which is which takes about 2 minutes and saves you years of "why does this look wrong on me?"
The warm vs cool test (do this right now)
Three quick at-home tests will point you in the right direction. None require special tools — just a mirror and natural light.
1. The vein test. Look at the inside of your wrist. Green veins = warm undertone. Blue or purple veins = cool undertone. Both = neutral. (Don't overthink it — go with your first impression.)
2. The jewelry test. Hold a gold piece and a silver piece next to your face. Which one makes your skin glow? Gold = warm. Silver = cool. If both look fine, you're likely neutral.
3. The white t-shirt test. Try a pure white shirt vs. a cream or ivory one. If pure white makes you look sharp and fresh = cool. If cream looks softer and more natural on you = warm.
What warm means for you
If your tests pointed warm: your best colors are peach, coral, golden yellow, olive green, warm browns, copper, and terracotta. You're likely a Spring or Autumn season.
In practice, that means gold jewelry over silver. Warm nude lips over pink nudes. Peach blush over mauve blush. When you shop, look for words like "golden," "honey," "caramel," and "apricot" in shade names — those are signals that a product will probably work on you.

What cool means for you
If your tests pointed cool: your best colors are dusty rose, mauve, berry, navy, icy blue, lavender, true red, and emerald. You're likely a Summer or Winter season.
In practice: silver jewelry over gold. Pink-based nudes over peachy nudes. Berry blush over coral blush. Shade names with "rose," "plum," "berry," and "wine" are usually safe bets for cool palettes.
What if I'm neutral?
About 20% of people are neutral (or olive undertone). That's not a cop-out answer — it means you can borrow from both warm and cool palettes, which is actually an advantage.
Olive undertones specifically look great in teal, burgundy, olive green, and muted earth tones. If gold AND silver both look good on you, or if you've always felt "stuck in the middle" with color advice, you might be olive-neutral.
TruHue's quiz detects olive undertones and gives you a blended palette that accounts for it — instead of forcing you into a purely warm or purely cool box.

Take the Free QuizBeyond warm/cool (the 12-season system)
Warm vs. cool is step 1. The full 12-season system also considers two more dimensions:
- Depth: Are your best colors light, medium, or deep? A Light Spring wears pastels. A Deep Autumn wears rich jewel tones. Both are warm — but their palettes look completely different.
- Chroma: Are your colors muted/soft or clear/bright? A Soft Summer looks washed out in neon. A Bright Winter looks flat in dusty tones. Same cool undertone, very different energy.
These three dimensions together — undertone + depth + chroma — narrow it down to your specific season out of 12. That's when product recommendations get really precise. Instead of "you're warm, good luck," you get "you're a True Spring — this exact coral scores YAY for you."

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I just wear whatever color I want?
Absolutely. Your season tells you what harmonizes with your coloring — not what's allowed. Wear what you want. But when you want to look your best (photos, dates, interviews), reaching for your season's colors gives you an unfair advantage.
Does my ethnicity determine my season?
No. Every ethnicity has people across all 12 seasons. Dark skin can be Deep Autumn or Deep Winter. Light skin can be Light Spring or Light Summer. It's about undertone and contrast, not shade.
What if the vein test doesn't work for me?
That's common with darker skin or olive tones. Skip to the quiz — it uses your actual photo and is more accurate than vein-checking.
