Mid-Range Blush by Undertone: Warm vs Cool Picks from Rare Beauty, Glossier, Saie & Fenty

The $23-$26 blush aisle is where most of us actually shop — and it is crowded. Rare Beauty, Glossier, Saie, and Fenty each have a cult line, and each has shades that will read beautifully on you and shades that will read off. The deciding factor is not the name; it is undertone. So we mapped all four by the actual hex color of every shade and scored each one against all 12 color seasons. Here is your warm pick and your cool pick from each.

Quick Answer

Warm seasons (Spring, warm Autumn): reach for Rare Beauty Joy, Glossier Dusk, Saie Poppy, or Fenty Daiquiri Dip. Cool seasons (Summer, Winter): reach for Rare Beauty Believe, Glossier Storm, Saie Chilly, or Fenty Cool Berry. Scan any barcode in the app to confirm your own YAY/OKAY/NAY.

This is Part II of our blush-by-price series — the mid-range. See also Part I: Luxe (NARS, Charlotte Tilbury, Patrick Ta, ILIA) and Part III: Drugstore. If you already know your season, jump to your brand. If not, the quiz takes about five minutes.

How to Read the Maps: Undertone & Clarity

Every map plots each blush on the two axes color analysts use. The vertical is undertone — warm at the top, cool at the bottom. The horizontal is clarity — bright and clear on the left, soft and muted on the right. A shade in the top-left is a clear warm; one in the bottom-right is a soft cool. Undertone tells you the season family; clarity tells you whether it is a Bright, True, Light, Soft, or Deep version.

Rare Beauty Soft Pinch — ~$23

Rare Beauty Soft Pinch, mapped by undertone.

Warm pick: Joy

Hex: #e07858 — a warm coral, the line's clearest warm.

One drop of Joy is a warm-season staple — peachy-coral that lights up Springs. Cool seasons will find it a touch orange.

Cool pick: Believe

Hex: #A86B7F — a soft muted rose that leans cool.

Believe is the softest, coolest of the Soft Pinch range — a muted blue-rose that flatters True Summers without going chalky. It sits close to neutral, so warm-neutral seasons can wear it too.

Glossier Cloud Paint — ~$24

Glossier Cloud Paint, mapped by undertone.

Warm pick: Dusk

Hex: #d09878 — a warm terracotta-nude.

Dusk is Cloud Paint's warm workhorse — a soft bronzed flush made for warm Autumns and Springs.

Cool pick: Storm

Hex: #883050 — a deep, cool berry-plum.

Storm is the cool-Winter answer — a saturated berry that reads rich, not muddy, on high-contrast coloring. Sheer it out if you are a lighter cool season.

Saie Dew Blush — ~$25

Saie Dew Blush, mapped by undertone.

Warm pick: Poppy

Hex: #fe8d8c — a bright warm coral-pink.

Poppy is a bright, fresh coral — the clearest warm in the Saie line and a Spring go-to.

Cool pick: Chilly

Hex: #b88098 — a soft muted mauve.

Chilly is Saie's coolest — a gentle mauve for True Summers. Like most soft mauves it hovers near neutral, so it stays wearable on adjacent seasons.

Fenty Cheeks Out — ~$26

Daiquiri Dip is a punchy warm red-coral — sheer it for a bright Spring flush, build it for a bolder warm look.

Cool pick: Cool Berry

Hex: #863e4c — a deep cool berry, exactly as named.

Cool Berry earns its name — a deep blue-berry that flatters your Winters. A rare true-cool in a mostly warm lineup.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Rare Beauty Joy warm or cool?
Rare Beauty Soft Pinch in Joy is warm. Its coral pigment (#e07858) reads warm on the undertone map and scores YAY for Bright Spring (100%), True Spring (94%), and True Autumn (79%). Cool seasons who want a Rare Beauty pick are better served by the softer, cooler Believe.
Which Glossier Cloud Paint is best for cool undertones?
Glossier Cloud Paint in Storm (#883050) is the cool pick of the line. It scores YAY for Deep Winter (85%) and True Winter (83%). Dusk, by contrast, is warm and scores YAY for True Autumn at 98%, so it suits warm seasons instead.
Is mid-range blush as good as luxe?
For undertone match, yes. A $23 Rare Beauty blush in your correct undertone will read fresher than a $43 luxe blush in the wrong one. The undertone decides whether a shade harmonizes; the price mostly buys formula, finish, and packaging. Match the undertone first, then decide where to spend. See Part I for the luxe tier and Part III for drugstore.
How does TruHue score a blush by season?
TruHue reads the actual hex color of the pigment, not the marketing name, and scores it against all 12 color seasons. Each shade gets a percentage per season: YAY at 70% or above, OKAY from 35 to 69%, and NAY below 35%. You can scan any blush barcode in the app and see your verdict in seconds.
