A $40 blush is a real decision. And the hardest part is not the price — it is that four different luxe lines all promise the same "universally flattering" flush, and half of them will still read wrong on you. The reason is undertone. A blush is warm or cool in the pigment itself, and no shade name tells you which. So we mapped the four cult luxe lines — NARS, Charlotte Tilbury, Patrick Ta, and ILIA — by the actual hex color of every shade, then scored each one against all 12 color seasons. Here is your warm pick and your cool pick from each, before you spend a cent.
Quick Answer
Warm seasons (Spring, warm Autumn): reach for NARS Torrid, CT Ecstasy, Patrick Ta She's Passionate, or ILIA Lady Bird. Cool seasons (Summer, Winter): reach for NARS Sin, CT Pillow Talk, Patrick Ta She's a Doll, or ILIA Tenderly. Scan any barcode in the app to confirm your own YAY/OKAY/NAY.
This is Part I of our blush-by-price series — the luxe tier, roughly $32 to $43. See also Part II: Mid-Range (Rare Beauty, Glossier, Saie, Fenty) and Part III: Drugstore (Milani, e.l.f., NYX), same warm-vs-cool format. If you already know your season, jump to your brand below. If you do not, the quiz takes about five minutes.
How to Read the Maps: Undertone & Clarity
Every map below plots each blush on the two axes color analysts actually use. The vertical is undertone — warm at the top, cool at the bottom. The horizontal is clarity — bright and clear on the left, soft and muted on the right. So a shade in the top-left is a clear warm; one in the bottom-right is a soft cool. Both axes decide your verdict together: undertone tells you which season family, and clarity tells you whether it is a Bright, True, Light, Soft, or Deep version of it — not the name on the compact.

Warm pick: Torrid
Hex: #D76952 — a warm, bright coral-red that sits high on the warm axis.
- Bright Spring: YAY — 100%
- True Spring: YAY — 94%
- True Autumn: YAY — 79%
Torrid is about as clear a warm as NARS makes. If you are a Spring, this is the one that lights up. Cool seasons can skip it — the coral will fight you.
Cool pick: Sin
Hex: #9E4B5E — a deep, muted cool berry.
- True Summer: YAY — 98%
- Deep Winter: YAY — 83%
- True Winter: YAY — 79%
Sin is the cool-season answer in the NARS line — berry depth that reads fresh, not muddy, on blue-based coloring. Note that the famous Orgasm is warm, so if it has never quite worked on you, Sin is why.
Charlotte Tilbury Cheek to Chic — $43
Warm pick: Ecstasy
Hex: #D98A6E — a warm peach-terracotta.
- True Autumn: YAY — 98%
- True Spring: YAY — 83%
- Bright Spring: YAY — 83%
Ecstasy is a warm-season workhorse — peachy enough for Springs, deep enough for True Autumn. It is one of the most warm-flattering luxe blushes on this list.
Cool pick: Pillow Talk
Hex: #D4A4A0 — a soft, light rosy nude that leans cool.
- Light Spring: YAY — 87%
- Light Summer: YAY — 87%
- True Summer: YAY — 81%
The famous Pillow Talk is the softest, coolest pick of the line — a delicate flush for Light and True Summers. If "Pillow Talk doesn't show up on me," you are likely a deeper or brighter season and want more pigment than this gives.
Patrick Ta Major Headlines Blush — ~$42
Warm pick: She's Passionate
Hex: #D87870 — a warm rosy-terracotta.
- True Autumn: YAY — 98%
- True Spring: YAY — 83%
- Bright Spring: YAY — 83%
She's Passionate is the warm anchor of the duo range — a lived-in flush that suits warm Autumns and Springs alike.
Cool pick: She's a Doll
Hex: #EF738F — a bright, clear cool pink.
- Bright Spring: YAY — 81%
- True Spring: YAY — 78%
- Bright Winter: YAY — 77%
She's a Doll has the clarity a Bright Winter wants — a saturated cool pink that reads vivid rather than dusty. Bright seasons, warm or cool, can all wear this one.
ILIA Blush — ~$32
Warm pick: Lady Bird
Hex: #E07858 — a warm, bright coral.
- Bright Spring: YAY — 100%
- True Spring: YAY — 94%
- True Autumn: YAY — 79%
Lady Bird is ILIA's clearest warm — a bright coral that behaves just like NARS Torrid on the map. A Spring go-to.
Cool pick: Tenderly
Hex: #D8A0A8 — a soft muted cool rose.
- Light Spring: YAY — 85%
- Light Summer: YAY — 85%
- True Summer: YAY — 79%
Tenderly is the Summer-friendly cool of the line — a gentle rose that flatters light, cool coloring without going chalky.
