MILK Makeup Hue Review: Shades by Season

MILK Makeup built its reputation on multi-use products that do more with less — and the color range backs it up. We recently picked up a few MILK products and they've earned a permanent spot in the rotation. The Lip + Cheek formula is genuinely good. So we ran every shade through TruHue's scoring engine to see which seasons each one serves. The short version: between the Lip + Cheek stick and the Cooling Water Jelly Tint, every single season has at least one strong match. That kind of coverage from just two product lines is rare.

Below you'll find every MILK Makeup color product scored across all 12 seasons — your YAY shades (the ones that harmonize with your coloring), the OKAYs worth trying, and the NAYs you can skip.

How We Score

TruHue's scoring engine analyzes each shade's undertone, depth, chroma, and contrast against your season's ideal palette. A shade scores YAY (70%+) when it aligns with your coloring, OKAY (35-69%) when it's wearable but not ideal, and NAY (under 35%) when it clashes. The engine doesn't care about trends — it cares about color harmony.

Lip + Cheek Stick ($24): Full Scoring

The MILK Makeup Lip + Cheek is the workhorse of this lineup. One stick, two uses — lips and cheeks — and the shade range covers 8 of the 12 seasons with at least one YAY. Here's every shade scored:

Cooling Water Jelly Tint ($26): Full Scoring

The Cooling Water Jelly Tint is a sheer, buildable lip and cheek color with a cooling sensation on application. Where the Lip + Cheek stick gives opaque color, the Jelly Tint gives a wash of tint — and it fills in some of the season gaps the stick misses.

Fizz at 100% for Light Spring is a standout — Light Spring can be tough to shop for, and this shade nails it. If you're a Bright Spring, you have four YAY options across the two lines (Perk, Flip, Burst, and Chill), which is unusually strong coverage from a single brand.

Matte Bronzer Stick ($24)

The MILK Makeup Matte Bronzer Stick in Baked is a medium bronze that works as a cream contour or an all-over warm-up for the right seasons.

True Autumn 100%, True Spring 79%100%

If you're a True Autumn, this bronzer is a perfect score. True Spring can wear it comfortably too. Other seasons should approach bronzer through their own undertone — a warm bronze on a cool season will read muddy rather than sun-kissed.

KUSH Mascara ($28)

The KUSH High Volume Mascara comes in a single shade — Blackest Black — and scores 90%+ across all 12 seasons. Black mascara is one of the few truly universal products in makeup. Note: this product may be discontinued soon, so grab it while you can.

Between the Lip + Cheek stick and the Jelly Tint, every season has at least one strong match. That's the power of a brand that gets multi-use right.

Light Summer and Deep Autumn are the two seasons without a clear YAY in the current MILK lineup — their closest matches fall into OKAY territory. If you're one of those seasons, Werk and Swerve are your safest starting points, but they won't be a perfect color match. Splash from the Jelly Tint line is also worth trying for Light Summer.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which MILK Makeup Lip + Cheek shade works for cool skin tones?
For cool seasons (Summer and Winter), Pep (fuchsia pink) scores 100% YAY for Bright Winter and 79% for True Winter. Quirk (spiced rose) scores 98% for True Summer and 85% for Soft Summer. Quickie (deep plum) and Muse (deep burgundy) both score 83% for Deep Winter.
Is the MILK Makeup Lip + Cheek stick worth $24?
You get a lip color and a cream blush in one stick for $24 — so you're effectively paying for two products. The formula blends easily on both lips and cheeks, and the shade range is wide enough that 8 of the 12 color seasons have at least one YAY-scoring shade in this single product line. If your season has a YAY match, it's a strong value.
